Mentor

We are looking for compassionate, resilient and motivated individuals to join our team as Mentors, supporting young people to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve success both in and beyond education. This is a rewarding role where relationships are at the heart of everything you do.

Working one-to-one and in small group settings, you will provide guidance, encouragement and practical support to students, helping them to develop positive relationships, improve engagement and successfully transition into their centre placement. You will act as a trusted adult role model, supporting students with problem-solving, goal setting and personal development in a calm, relational and supportive way.

Teaching Assistant

3 Vacancies Available – Stroud, Gloucester & Cheltenham

Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential? We are looking for enthusiastic, resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join The Altus School across our centres in Stroud, Gloucester and Cheltenham.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who may face barriers to learning, supporting them both in the classroom and through wider pastoral support. Working alongside teachers and the wider school team, you will help create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment where relationships come first and every young person is encouraged to succeed.

The role includes supporting learning in class, delivering interventions, helping students manage behaviour in a relational and trauma-informed way, and contributing to the smooth running of the centre through break, lunchtime and off-site supervision.

We are looking for individuals who are patient, adaptable and able to build strong relationships with young people. Experience of working with children, particularly those with SEND or additional needs, is desirable, alongside a genuine commitment to making a difference every day.

SEND & Safeguarding Administrator

We are seeking a highly organised, compassionate and professional SEND & Safeguarding Administrator to join our team and play a vital role in supporting some of our most vulnerable pupils. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a fast-paced Alternative Provision environment where relationships, inclusion and safeguarding are at the heart of everything we do.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality administrative support across safeguarding, SEND and vulnerable learner provision, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, SENDCo, pastoral teams and external agencies. The role involves maintaining accurate and confidential records, coordinating multi-agency meetings, supporting statutory SEND processes including EHCP Annual Reviews, and ensuring safeguarding actions and documentation are completed efficiently and compliantly.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. You will need to be able to build positive working relationships with students, families, social workers, local authorities and external professionals, while remaining calm, flexible and resilient in a busy school environment.

Family Liaison Worker (Attendance Support)

We are looking for a compassionate, proactive and resilient Family Liaison Worker to join our team and play a key role in supporting students and families to improve attendance, engagement and outcomes. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with vulnerable young people and their families, helping to remove barriers to education and build positive, trusting relationships that make a lasting difference.

Working alongside safeguarding and pastoral teams, you will support students whose attendance is a concern through practical interventions including home visits, transition support, family liaison and multi-agency working. You will act as a key point of contact for some families, offering guidance, encouragement and support while helping young people successfully engage with school and future placements.

We are looking for someone who can remain calm and empathetic under pressure, build strong professional relationships and work flexibly across a range of settings. Experience of supporting children and young people with SEND, SEMH or complex needs is highly desirable, alongside a strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) & Pastoral Lead

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and highly skilled Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) & Pastoral Lead to join our primary provision and play a pivotal role in supporting some of our most vulnerable young people. This is a rewarding leadership opportunity where safeguarding, relationships and emotional wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.

Working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Assistant Head Primary, you will lead and coordinate pastoral and safeguarding support for pupils with a wide range of SEMH, behavioural and additional needs. You will provide direct intervention for students experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties, support staff through trauma-informed and relational approaches, and work closely with families and external agencies to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.

The role includes managing safeguarding concerns and referrals, attending multi-agency meetings, supporting attendance and reintegration strategies, and developing individualised pastoral support plans. You will also play a key role in building positive relationships with families, promoting inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable children.

We are looking for someone who can remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals, and lead with empathy, integrity and professionalism. Experience within safeguarding, SEMH, alternative provision or pastoral leadership is highly desirable, alongside a strong commitment to child-centred practice and safeguarding excellence.
