Rutherford House

Rutherford House provides full time education for Primary aged pupils. We provide an active curriculum to engage our children in learning and use a variety of interventions and approaches to support their academic, emotional and social needs.. The centre is set up to provide a nurturing environment where pupils, who have often had negative experiences in education settings, can flourish. Our highly trained and supportive staff work with children to help them find new strategies to manage their needs. 

Children in KS1 and KS2 access lessons in English, Maths, Science, Computing, PSHE, Art, PE and topic. Each topic is developed as part of a creative and collaborative curriculum. Our curriculum aims to develop thinking skills, team work, promotes self-esteem and independent working through a range of activities. We use all of our activities, trips and lessons to promote and nurture positive behaviours and values in our children.  Play therapy is also offered to support some pupils.
