Safeguarding

Safeguarding Statement

We at The Altus School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and as such we expect all staff, Management Committee members, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.

Our aim is to ensure that child protection concerns and referrals are handled sensitively, professionally and in ways that support the specific needs of the individual child. Through providing a caring, safe and stimulating environment which promotes the social, physical and moral development of all our students, we aim to foster an atmosphere of trust, respect and security.

Our staff form part of a wider safeguarding system for children as described in the statutory guidance ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018’ and will, therefore, work together with children’s services, the police, health services and other agencies to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

At The Altus School, we have a dedicated Safeguarding team, led by Debbie Kirkham.

If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child or family,  you should report this immediately to a member of the Safeguarding Team.
